Kundalini Yoga for the Adrenals and Kidneys

This Kundalini Kriya (set of exercises) prepares us to step into spring with fresh energy by helping remove toxins and balancing our adrenals.

Our kidneys remove waste and extra fluid as well as acid that is produced by the cells of our body.  They help us maintain a healthy balance of water, salts, and minerals in our blood.  When our kidneys are not working efficiently waste products build up in our bodies which can lead to health problems. Our kidneys can become sluggish for a variety of reasons and the exercises in the Kriya will help activate them.

Our adrenal glands are small but powerful in that they have a profound effect on our wellbeing.  When they are in good working order they process stress related hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline to help regulate the body.   When we are very stressed, our adrenal glands pump out these hormones to protect us as they think we are in danger, which creates havoc and damage to our bodies.  The exercises in this Kriya will help us balance our adrenals and reduce the stress hormones so we can move towards a state of homeostasis (equilibrium)

Kundalini Yoga, the “Yoga of Awareness” is a life-enhancing and very enjoyable style of Yoga which, using physical postures and movements (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation and chanting, enables us to tap our latent potential which may have been lying dormant for a long time. Teachers of Kundalini Yoga have available a large repertoire of sets (kriyas), each of which focuses on a particular objective and have many benefits e.g. balancing the glandular system, strengthening the immune system, reducing fear and anxiety.

Kundalini Yoga is for anyone: no need to be very flexible, no matter what age, no need to be anxious about being judged. Eyes closed throughout most of the practice, getting a true sense of what’s going on inside the body, mind and spirit. “If you don’t go within, you go without”.  And, at the same time, having some fun!
